Public consultation: Towards a socially responsible trade policy

The Center for Studies on Integration and Globalization (CEIM) organizes a public consultation on Canadian trade policy. At a time when trade agreements return to negotiations (eg. renegotiation of NAFTA, recent CETA signature) and when the government has shown intention of adopting more social responsibility policies, a strategic window opens to transform Canada's trade policy. We therefore conduct a civil society survey on three proposed areas to make trade policy more socially responsible. These areas are: a) social clauses in trade agreements, b) social conditionality of generalized system of preferences, and c) banning on import of goods produced using forced labour or the worst forms of child labour.
